Why did Dave run for the School Board?
Dave loves Morgan County and he loves these schools. Like many parent volunteers, he’s spent countless hours making sure our children get the best education they can.
Morgan County has a strong tradition of scholastic excellence. Dave wants to keep it that way.
Why is Dave a Republican?
The Democratic Party has a proud history of accomplished Patriots. Men like Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, have been great Democratic Presidents. Georgia has been the home of wonderful Democrats like Sam Nunn and Zell Miller. Local Democrats such as Bruce Gilbert and Chester Thomas have been good for this community.
In Dave’s humble opinion, however, the today’s Republican Party defends liberty more vigorously than today’s Democrats. Historically, this has always been true. Remember, it was Republican administrations that:
• Ended Slavery
• Gave Women the Right to Vote
• Created the National Parks System
• Started Environmental Reforms
• Broke Up the Monopolies (Trusts)
• Introduced Affirmative Action
• Ended the Cold War
Nobody is perfect, and the Republican Party is certainly no exception. But in general, they were on the right side of history most of the time.
Why is Dave Conservative?
Conservatism is a philosophy that says you should stick to things that work. The great empires throughout the ages have been conservative ones. Once a nation strays from its core beliefs, it tends to decline.
But Dave also believes in the reality of Entropy. Entropy is a scientific term that states everything is constantly changing – the only constant is change.
If you put those two ideas together you conclude that we must always change, but do so slowly to determine whether or not that change actually works. Thus, Dave is liberal about his conservatism.
The Republican Party started as the Liberal side of the aisle. It is best when it preserves things like Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
